1️⃣ Morning – From Yellowstone to Colter Bay Visitor Center

Set your alarm early — you’ll want to hit the road by 6:30 AM from Yellowstone to make the most of your day.

  • 📍 Stop 1: Colter Bay Visitor Center
  • One of seven visitor centers in the park.
  • Pick up a park map, check the day’s trail and weather conditions, and catch the short park film for a quick intro to Grand Teton’s historyand wildlife.
  • Facilities available (restrooms, small shop).
  • Pro Tip: This is your best spot early in the day to confirm ferry times for Jenny Lake if you plan to hike later.

2️⃣ Oxbow Bend – Reflections & Wildlife 🦌

After leaving Colter Bay, your first scenic stop is Oxbow Bend.

  • Why it’s special: Perfect reflections of Mount Moran in the Snake River.
  • Wildlife spotting: Keep an eye out for moose, elk, and birds.
  • Photography tip: Morning light often gives a soft glow to the mountains and calm waters, creating stunning mirror images.

Spend 15–20 minutes here soaking in the view and snapping photos.

3️⃣ Schwabacher Landing – Classic Teton View 📸

From Oxbow Bend, drive ~25 minutes along Highway 26 to the turnoff for Schwabacher Landing.

  • The road is gravel but usually passable in a regular car.
  • Park at the lot at the very end (not the mid-way lot) for the best trail access.
  • Short out-and-back trail starting by the water.
  • On a still day, you can photograph the Teton Range perfectly reflected in the Snake River.
  • Allow 20–30 minutes here.

4️⃣ Jenny Lake Scenic Drive 🚗

Head back to Highway 26, then take Teton Park Road south. The one-way Jenny Lake Scenic Drive offers multiple stops worth pulling over for:

  • Cathedral Group Turnout – Dramatic, unobstructed views of the tallest Teton peaks.
  • Leigh Lake Trailhead – Easy 2.9-mile (4.7 km) out-and-back trail (~50 minutes). Peaceful forest path with lake views.
  • Jenny Lake Overlook – Sweeping vistas over the deep-blue waters of Jenny Lake.

5️⃣ Hidden Falls & Inspiration Point Hike 🥾🚤

One of the most popular short hikes in Grand Teton — and for good reason.

How to get there:

  • Park at Jenny Lake Visitor Center.
  • Take the Jenny Lake Ferry across the water (10–12 minutes).
  • From the boat dock, it’s a ~1-mile (1.6 km) hike to Hidden Falls, then another 0.5 miles (0.8 km) to Inspiration Point.

Why you’ll love it:

  • Hidden Falls is a 100-foot cascade surrounded by lush forest.
  • Inspiration Point offers a jaw-dropping view over Jenny Lake and the valley beyond.

Timing Tip: Start this hike mid-to-late afternoon (~3–4 PM) to avoid peak crowds, but check the last ferry departure before you set out.

6️⃣ Optional: Jackson Hole Aerial Tram 🚡

If you have extra time before heading into Jackson, make a detour to Teton Village.

  • Take the Aerial Tram to the top of Rendezvous Mountain for panoramic views of the Tetons and Jackson Hole Valley.

Great spot for sunset photos if the weather is clear.

7️⃣ Evening – Jackson Hole Town Square 🌆

Finish your day with a stroll through Jackson Town Square, famous for its huge arches made of elk antlers. The square is surrounded by boutiqueshops, galleries, and restaurants.

Dinner Ideas:

  • Dornan’s Pizza Pasta Company – Casual, family-friendly, mountain views.
  • Liberty Burger – Classic American burgers with creative toppings.

Local Restaurant & Bar – Upscale, farm-to-table Wyoming flavors.
