Federal Reserve Bank Chicago, Illinois

The best hidden gem in Chicago (it’s free)

Chicago is full of special places to visit. Most tourist will go to Millenium Park, the Navy Pier, the Riverwalk, and maybe Sky Deck. Most of them doesn’t know there is a museum about money. The Chicago Fed’s Money Museum. The best of all it’s totally free.

Chicago Fed’s Money Museum

he museum is located on the first floor of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. It’s a nice stop if you’re going to Sky Deck from Millenium Park. It’s open 10 AM to 5 PM from Monday to Friday, except on Federal Reserve Bank holidays. You can walk in when you want, no reservation needed, only if you’re in a group of 15 or more.

The museum teaches you about money and its history in the United States. You can discover rare and foreign currency and watch how money is handled when it arrives in the bank's basement. The interactive exhibitions make it fun to learn about money.

1 Million Dollar Cube in the Chicago Fed's Money Museum

Don’t forget to take a photo with a cube filled with 1 million dollars and go home with a bag of $350 (shredded of course). Is there anything better? A free museum where you walk away with a bunch of cash.
